5 months agoI recently visited a small taco spot located in the back of a run-down gas station. The birria tacos were decent, with good flavor, but the consomé was a bit bland and not very exciting. Unfortunately, the refried beans and rice were lacking seasoning and didn't have much flavor either. I did appreciate that the staff were friendly and accommodating. When I mentioned the high price of the salsa, they kindly gave me some chips and salsa at no extra cost. However, the salsa itself was quite bland and lacked freshness, so I’m glad I didn’t pay the $4 for the small portion. Overall, while I wanted to support the local business and appreciated the friendliness, the food quality didn’t quite meet my expectations, and I likely won’t return

11 months agoGreat food for a hole in the wall of a sketchy gas station. Delicious Birria tacos and nachos! Friendly owners, and fair pricing. Only down side is no chorizo was on the menu. Definitely worth a try if you don’t want to drive all the way into Hiram.

11 months agoEl Pelon is amazing ! The birria tacos are incredible. The meat is so tender and the broth comes with so much flavor. The rice and beans are the perfect side, too, very tasty as well. But honestly, the best part is the sweet couple who own the place, they’re so nice and they make you feel so welcomed from the moment you step in the building. Definitely a 10/10 experience!

a year agoTalk about a hole in the wall. Don’t let the location or the simple setup make you second-guess this place. Flavor and authenticity? 10/10 There is no phone number, website or any of that flashy stuff, just great food. None of that chain “Mexican restaurant” nonsense here. I was genuinely blown away, not just by the food, but by how happy this gentleman was to take care of his customers. Stopped by on a whim craving Birria tacos and walked out with six orders. Everything was phenomenal. Even though it was close to closing, he gladly took our order. Everything was made fresh, and we’ve definitely found our new go to for those random cravings.

a year agoTHIS IS THE PLACE!! Food is always top-notch and full of flavor with very reasonable prices. The owner always greets you with a smile and cares about what he is making. Drinks are delicious as well. Don’t miss out. I eat here probably two times a week.

a year agoMan, love this Mexican spot inside the Shell gas station. Never been disappointed even once. Would highly recommend if you are in the area. FYI, it a to-go place so no seating arrangements.
